How to Reduce the Performance of Your CPU on Windows 10: Processor, Temperature, Error, Overheat
Sometimes our processor gets old and gets too hot at times when we use the computer for gaming or working. Subsequently, our computer turns itself off without warning, but with some tips and tools, it is possible to look at the temperature of the processor and we will be able to see the problem of overheating.
CPUs are designed to shut down the computer when it becomes too hot. At 90 or 95 degrees Celsius, it becomes extremely dangerous for the processor and the computer goes off by itself without making a screen of death (blue screen)
The first thing to do is to clean the fan, the motherboard and heat-sync of the processor. Sometimes the damage has already been done so we must find an alternative to this processor heat problem. We will explain how to do this quickly to fix your CPU heat problem.
This is one of the best tips against overheating your laptop, computer or Windows tablet.
If you are using Windows 7, 8 or even Windows 10, here are the steps to do.
Steps 1:
Start by opening the control panel, you can do this from the icon at the bottom left and write in the search bar, Control Panel.
Steps 2:
then write in the search bar at the top right in the new window “Change the Energy Saver settings”.
Steps 3:
Click on the “Change Mode Settings” option in the middle of the screen. It depends on what setting of your Windows you have selected. For example, I selected normal use (recommended) for my computer.
Steps 4:
Subsequently, in the new window that opens. You will select “Change advanced power settings.
Steps 5:
You will see several configuration options on this page, but what we want is the “CPU Power Management” option.
Steps 6:
Select “The Maxium processor” and write 80% in this category then restart your computer. This has the effect of reducing the power of the processor just to 80% so that it heats less.
If you notice that your processor is still too hot, you can gradually reduce the CPU power by 5 or 10% every time. Personally, I noticed that 80% made a big difference on the heat of the processor.
It is possible to reduce the power of the processor in the “BIOS” but it requires more advanced techniques of the field, but this is possible.
What other options are available?
Before configuring are processor to run more slowly, I strongly advise you to clean it well, change the thermal paste and remove all the dust from the fan and the N-Sync.
